Exceptional Quality

The first of our four professional standards focuses on delivering exceptional quality, and providing clients with tangible results and a first-class service.

As well as our years of experience, we collectively hold a high standard of qualifications, accreditations and accountability through professional memberships. This doesn’t just symbolise our expertise, they are reflect our investment in perfecting our craft and skill, so that we can always deliver the best service to our clients.

Staying the best means evolving, which is exactly what we do. The sector moves at pace, and with significant legislative and regulatory changes particularly over the last few years, it is more important than ever to stay curious, creative, and committed to continued professional development. As solution-experts, we innovate and use our expertise to help clients overcome the modern day challenges and get the results they dream of.

Integrity & Values-Led

The second of our four professional standards focuses on delivering with integrity, and providing a service that honours our philosophy, our name, and our roots.

We are a small business with deep values, and our client-led approach is not dominated by a profit-only business model. We intentionally remain small so we never lose our conscience in the mass of a large company, and we ensure everyone who works with and for us shares our ethical code and values.

We really care about the impact we have, whether it is the results we deliver our clients, how we give back to our sector, or how we make sure we leave the world better than we found it, and we hold ourselves accountable to our social and environmental sustainability commitments.

We are deeply committed to equity, equality and social justice. As an ethnically diverse, age diverse, and gender-balanced team, this commitment comes from a sincere and personal place. Each of us are passionate that everyone - regardless of what they look like, believe in, how their body serves them, who they love, or how they identify, should be respected and given the first-class service they deserve.

We choose re-invest some of our profit to fund our Rare Foundation, and we ‘pay it forward’ to people who need it most. This includes support for domestic abuse survivors, people in financial hardship who need health or disability related adaptations and similar services, and professional mentoring for underrepresented groups within the sector.

Client Protection & Assurance

The third of our four professional standards focuses on delivering client protection and loyalty, and providing outstanding levels of assurance for both individual and business clients.

From the first conversation you have with us, to the aftercare process, we offer client protection and assurance as standard from beginning to end. We are transparent, fair, and always honour our word, and whether it’s client loyalty, bold commitments to great outcomes, or keeping your money and data safe, we take care of you.

Professional & Ethical Practice

The fourth and last, but by no means least, of our four professional standards focuses on delivering a highly professional service, and running a responsible and ethical practice.

Our business and the way we deliver our services complies with all legislative, statutory and regulatory standards and requirements, and we are committed to running an ethical and legally sound business. Scroll down to look at our legal, compliance and regulation statement, along with our cybersecurity compliance statement, insurance compliance statement, GDPR compliance statement, modern slavery statement and copyright statement.

As well as our compliance statements, we also set out our commitments around our social and environmental impact and our commitment to equity, equality and social justice. Our commitment to ethical practice underpins our business delivery, and makes sure we are living up to our philosophy, our name, and our roots. Read our statements on our philosophy page.

We have a number of policies in place to protect our clients, the public, and the people we work with and for, including our protecting people policy and privacy policy, as well as our client feedback policy, which keeps us accountable to you and listening in a meaningful way. Our Rare Foundation policy sets out and guides how our foundation works. As part of running a responsible practice, we also ensure we protect our business so that we can run effectively. If you wish to read any of our policies or find out more about how we work, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

For commercial clients, including registered providers, local authorities, charities and legal firms, we are happy to review and sign up to your policies when we work on your behalf, providing they are compatible with our ethics and values.

Compliance Statements

  • Under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016 (GDPR), we have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. We take this duty seriously, and are committed to keeping your information safe and staying compliant with the law. To learn more about how we collect, keep, and process your private information, please view our privacy policy. This policy is up to date for 2024 and will be reviewed again in 2025.

  • Our business does not currently meet the threshold for the reporting obligations under the Modern Slavery Act (MSA) 2015, and we are not required to publish a modern slavery and human trafficking statement. However, in our commitment to preventing slavery and human trafficking - and as we work with businesses and organisations who do have legal obligations, we voluntarily align ourselves with the principles of the MSA and ensure our suppliers and partners also comply with these values.

Our small team of industry experts are all UK based, with the legal right to work in the UK. As a responsible employer, we pay fairly, limit working hours for a healthy work life balance, and provide a safe and thriving work environment.

Our policies, pledges and voluntary commitments make a firm stance on our high ethical standards. Our commitment to ethical practices, commitment to equity, equality and social justice, and our protecting people and staying safe policies help ensure that our clients, the team, suppliers and partners are safe, and that the team, suppliers and partners are also contributing to the safety of others. There is simply no hiding place within Rare for people who aren’t aligned to these standards.

As an SME we have a relatively small supply chain as much of our delivery is completed in-house. When working with suppliers and partners, who are all UK based, we have a robust process in place to ensure that our values are shared, and that we are aligned on our commitment to legal and ethical standards as well as quality and performance. The advantage of a relatively small supply chain is that we have strong oversight at every step of the relationship, and our due diligence at the start of the relationship and ongoing risk assessments, close monitoring, and regular reviews, considerably reduces the risk of unlawful or immoral activity happening in our supply chain. We won’t work with any suppliers or partners who don’t comply with our values or the law, and we would terminate any relationship that breached this on any level.

  • Our business and the way we deliver our services complies with all legislative, statutory and regulatory standards and requirements, and we are committed to running an ethical and legally sound business.

While we are not regulated in the same way as registered housing providers, local authorities, and charities, through our extensive experience in the sector we have a strong understanding of their regulatory requirements. As a business committed to high ethical standards, and in recognition of the valued work we do with registered housing providers, local authorities, and charities, we voluntarily align ourselves with their principles when working with them and their customers.

  • We take cybersecurity seriously, and take proactive steps to keep our systems and databases safe, and protect our clients’ data. We use antivirus and security software, firewall security, smart technology, controlled system access, encrypted wi-fi networks, authentication services, and other methods to maintain a strong line of defence against any cybersecurity threats.

  • We are fully insured with reputable insurance companies, and with the right coverage in place to protect us as a business and our clients as consumers. We hold Professional Indemnity Insurance, Public Liability Insurance, and Employers Liability Insurance.
